The new Electric Vehicle (EV) Technician Certificate program has recently launched. Here's what people are talking about.

Canada is not ready for the coming electric vehicle revolution. Here’s what we need to do.

Considering a career change? Canada will soon need many more skilled technicians and tradespeople to      usher in a new era of transportation. We are in the midst of an energy revolution. By 2030, the International  Energy Agency expects there will be 145 million electric vehicles (EVs) on the road globally. But where are the charging stations needed to power them, or the skilled workers to service them? Currently, Canada does not have the infrastructure required to sustain the projected influx.

Toronto College Launches EV Program

George Brown College has launched an Electric Vehicle Technician Certificate Program. It’s a self-paced  distance education program — students can learn at their own pace from anywhere. It’s designed for  automotive technicians interested in upping technical knowledge to diagnose, service and repair high voltage  EVs. The Toronto school said it’s also open to other trades professionals, like electricians, to learn to install, design and maintain residential or commercial charging stations.

Helping to build the workforce of the future, George Brown College recently announced the creation of its Electric Vehicle Technician (EV) Certificate Program, “offering automobile mechanics and technicians, as well as electricians and other tradespeople, the opportunity to upgrade their skills in a sector seeing extraordinary growth.” This new program is delivered online and is asynchronous, which means “students can learn anywhere and at their own pace.”
